In a career spanning nearly 30 years, Robert has occupied senior roles in government, public administration, and the corporate sector. Robert worked as a senior ministerial advisor in the NSW Government and served as a Councillor on a large metropolitan council, including eight years as Mayor. In 2008, Robert was elected to the NSW Parliament as the Member for Lakemba and served as a Shadow Minister in several key portfolios including Housing, Roads and Ports.

In November 2024, Robert was elected to the Board of Directors of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (NSW)—a leading development industry association. In April 2025, Robert was elected to serve as President, a role that harnesses his advocacy, governance and strategic skillset.

For the past five years, Robert has served as a senior executive in one of Australia’s largest apartment builders. In this role, Robert leads the corporate communications team, overseeing public affairs, stakeholder engagement, branding, marketing and community relations.
